SFX launches Xquisite Force, a project addressed to adventurous video and sound artists, with the aim to foster synergetic thinking and making.

Xquisite Force is a collaborative AV piece, a record of artistic expressions and conversations.

‘Exquisite Corpse’ (Cadavre Exquis) is a method/technique invented in the 1920s by the Surrealists by which a collection of words or images are collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, by being allowed to see only the end of what the previous person contributed. We borrow the surrealists’ semi-blind and sequential method and ask participants to create sound or video in response to the final fragment of previous member’s work.

Xquisite Force has no start nor end, the video starts playing from a random point and loops.

Whilst you are discovering part #1, the project keeps on growing. We will reveal the following parts by degrees, and present other linked releases along the way.

Here below is a growing record of  involved participants. Check out each artists’ infos, discover the work they do and are involved with, find out what inspired them to make their piece, and what input they decided to pass on to the next contributor. This insight, trigger, inspiration, food for thought, hint is named  “Added Input”.

Thanks to Rupert Clervaux for the Sound Mastering.

We are happy to present the first part of Xquisite Force, with contributions from:
